Remarks: This subspecies is recognized for Ilhéu Chão, Deserta Grande and Selvagem Pequena ( Wollaston 1865; Serrano & Boieiro 2008; Stüben 2016). However, its presence on the two former islands alongside the nominal subspecies raises the question of whether we are observing two distinct subspecies or just a single species exhibiting some morphological variation. A molecular analysis, which is outside the scope of this work, could help resolve this issue. Both adult specimens were found beneath stones.
