Remarks. Salmoneus depressus can be easily recognised by the dorsally indented carapace, a feature shared only with its Pacific sister species, S. excavatus Anker, 2011 ( Anker 2011) . The species appears to be widespread in the western Atlantic, with records from Panama ( Bocas del Toro, San Blas Islands), Mexico (Gulf of Mexico), Cuba ( Isla de la Juventud) Venezuela (Isla Margarita), Saint Martin, Barbados and Brazil ( São Paulo) ( Anker 2011; Anker et al. 2013; Duarte et al. 2014; present study). The present material is the first record of the species from Cuba ( Isla de la Juventud) and a new locality in the Gulf of Mexico (Isla de Enmedio).
