Stoloniferous perennial herbs. Leaves opposite, ovate, acuminate. Flowers actinomorphic, small, in a terminal, bracteate raceme; hypanthial tube short. Sepals 2; petals 2, white or pinkish; stamens 2; stigma entire or shallowly notched; ovary 1 - or 2- locular, with one ovule in each cell. Fruit davate, indéhiscent, densely covered with bristles; seeds 1 or 2.
