Like 1 but always a shrub 1-3 m; leaves oblong, c. 2- 5 times as long as wide, all spinose-serrate and only slightly undulate, turning black on drying; petiole with a narrower and deeper groove. Turkey-in-Europe. Tu. {Caucasus, N. Anatolia.)
