Sect. Rosa View in CoL (Sect. Gallicanae DC. ). Erect, usually low shrubs. Rhizome long. Stems usually with hooked prickles mixed with acides. Outer sepals usually pinnatifid, deflexed and deciduous after anthesis. Disc wide, with a narrow orifice. Carpels sessile. Styles free.
