It is a recent addition to the flora of Costa Rica ( Fig. 3 View FIG ), growing in premontane wet forest at 1600–2000 m, and known from three populations so far, from a small area south of mount Caraigres at the western end of the Talamanca mountain range (Debouck et al. 2020). The area is affected by the expansion of coffee plantations and pastures.
