Lectotype:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro: Rio de Janeiro, 1883, Glaziou 14397 W-1916-0019572!, here designated. Isolectotypes: BAA-00002402! (fragment ex P), BAA-00002332! (fragment and illustration ex US), G-00099627!, K-000979164!, P-00740870!, P-00740871!, P-00740872!,US-80870! (fragment ex W), US-1127279! (fragment ex P), US-1445786! (fragment ex P).

We designate as lectotype for the name Panicum fluminense the sheet housed at W (W-1916 - 0019572, Rainer 2015), because Hackel worked in this herbarium and there is information on the label of that specimen in his own handwriting. We found three other duplicates of this collection ( isolectotypes) at P (P-00740870, P-00740871, P-00740872). Another isolectotype was found at G (G-00099627), which was previously assigned as “type” by Agnes Chase on the sheet ; this specimen has not previously been cited in the literature.

Three fragments of the type collection at US, as cited by Zuloaga & Morrone (2003), are isolectotypes: US-1127279 (barcode 00148501) and US-1445786 (barcode 00148503), both obtained from P, and US-80870 (barcode 00148502) obtained from W. A sheet housed at BAA includes fragments from P (BAA-00002402), which was cited by Zuloaga et al. (1988), and W (BAA-00002332). These fragments are also isolectotypes. The specimen BAA-00002332 also includes a nondiagnostic illustration based on a fragment from W housed at US (probably from the sheet US-80870).
