Treatment

Physetapsis Schuster, 1958 (as subgenus of Sphaeropthalma Blake, 1871 ). Ent. Amer. (N.S.) 37: 9, 20 (in keys). Male.

Gender. Masculine (Article 30.2.4 of the Code).

Type species. Sphaeropthalma ( Physetapsis) papaga Schuster, 1958 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Sphaeropthalma Blake, 1871 according to Pitts et al., 2004: 224. Subjectively invalid name.

Sex association. The female has not been recognized.

Distribution. Nearctic.
