Diagnosis. SIF = 7BS-B-3-3111.1000; fPp = B/B/NbB; PL> AL; fD = 2H-6-6-6; DS = 20; V = 24; NDV = 43–48; scutum nearly trapezoidal, much wider than long, posterior scutal margin moderately prominent, rounded; two AL and two PL setae, AM absent; flagelliform sensilla with 4–5 short cilia; f 1 distal to S 1; f 2 proximal to S 2; Ip = 1031 (after Taufflieb, 1965a).

Standard measurements. AW 84, PW 114, SB 36, ASB 30, PSB 41, SD 71, AP 41, AL 65, PL 88, H 101, D min 74, D max 95, V min 40, V max 70, pa 346, pm 322, pp 369, Ip 1031 (after Taufflieb, 1965a).

Type deposition. Holotype (original number 17594-5) and one paratype in MDLA; two paratypes in MNHN (58G 6 and 58G 15).

Distribution and hosts. This species was described from Angola (Dundo) ex Crocidura sp. (Eulipotyphla: Soricidae ), Praomys jacksoni ( Rodentia : Muridae ), and Potamogale velox ( Afrosoricida : Potamogalidae ).Additional material was collected in Congo (Brazzaville, Djoue River) ex Grammomys poensis (Eisentraut) (syn. Thamnomys rutilans Peters ) ( Rodentia : Muridae ) and P. velox ( Taufflieb 1965a) .
