GRIBODO (1894: 284 (footnote 2) received from Magretti only one female and one male from Kassala ( Sudan) under the name Megachile albocincta , but no material from Aikota. The record from Eritrea is not mentioned in FRIESE (1909: 336; 1915: 274), COCKERELL (1937: 204) and PASTEELS (1965: 483). Megachile mefistofelica is also recorded from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and Sudan.
