Paccius madagascariensis (Simon, 1889) View in CoL
Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5
Trachelas madagascariensis Simon, 1889: 232 ( ♂).
Paccius madagascariensis Simon, 1898: 384 View in CoL (designated as type species). Type material. Holotype ♂: MADAGASCAR: no further locality information, n° Simon 8189, leg. Peckham (examined from photos and illustrated here; MNHN—AR14401).
Diagnosis. Males are closest to those of P. griswoldi and P. haddadi sp. nov. in having a retrolateral expansion of the cymbium that is less than half the length of cymbium and the retrolateral expansion without a distinct truncated margin. Paccius madagascariensis may be distinguished by the retrolateral expansion being entirely dome-shaped without any truncation ( Fig. 5C, E View FIGURE 5 ) (vs. retrolateral expansion not round, truncation slight to moderate but clear; Platnick 2000: fig. 5.5, Fig. 3A, C View FIGURE 3 ). Additionally, the boat-shaped setae of the tibia are extremely long and may be nearly twice the thickness of the tibial apex ( Fig. 5D, F View FIGURE 5 ) vs. nearly as long as the thickness of the tibia in both P. griswoldi and P. haddadi sp. nov. ( Platnick 2000: fig. 5.6, Fig. 3B, D View FIGURE 3 ).
