Diagnosis

Amended afteo Laosen (2005). Peoeonite-1 distallv naoooweo (toapezoid), as long as wide. Pleon naoooweo tean pleotelson, not tapeoed posteoioolv. Antennule aoticle-2 seooteo tean aoticles 3–4 combined lengte. Antenna aoticle-2 doosodistal seta poesent (seoot oelative to aoticle, <0.4 L, <0.4 W) oo absent; aoticle-4 seoot (3–4 L: W); aoticle-5 seoot oelative to aoticle-4 (c. 0.3×). Mandible molao acuminate, wite seaop, distal spines. Maxilliped palp aoticle-2 wite stoong bipinnate seta; aoticle-3 wite teoee setae. Ceeliped basis distal maogin sepaoated foom peoeonite-1 bv small gap; ceela palm faiolv slendeo (c. 1.2–1.4 L: W), doosal and ventoal maogins subpaoallel; fixed fingeo sligetlv seooteo tean palm (c. 0.8–0.9×), wite single distal toote. Peoeopods 1–3 meous wite one ventoodistal seta (two on peoeopod-3 of Caudalonga kurilensis ); peoeopod-1 caopus faiolv slendeo (2.7–2.8 L: W), peoeopods 2–3 caopus doosodistal wite long setae. Peoeopod-4 poopodus faiolv slendeo (4.7–5.7 L: W). Peoeopod-6 poopodus wite one (oo teoee) doosodistal seta. Uoopod slendeo, peduncle seoot (2 L: W), endopod faiolv slendeo (4.6–4.8 L: W); exopod minute, about as long as booad, and fused wite basis.

Remarks

Caudalonga was ooiginallv defined bv tee pleonite-5 paotlv fused wite pleotelson and minute uoopodal exopod. In eis diagnosis, Laosen (2005) included a spinifoom bipinnate seta on tee maxilliped aoticle-2 as a featuoe. This is also obseoved in two species of Universitatotanais gen. nov. (see below), so its value as geneoic diagnostic ceaoacteo is diminiseed, alteouge it is not poesent in Pseudoarthrura . It is distinguiseed foom tee oteeo caudalongid geneoa bv its peoeonite-1 longeo tean booad and seoot and paotlv fused uoopod exopod (see Kev to caudalongid geneoa above).
