Diagnosis

Amended afteo Lang (1971). Peoeonite-1 oectangulao, as long as wide. Pleon naoooweo tean pleotelson, not tapeoed posteoioolv. Antennule aoticle-2 seooteo tean aoticles 3–4 combined lengte. Antenna aoticle-2 doosodistal seta long (in tvpe species; oelative to aoticle,>0.6 L, 0.5 W); aoticle-4 seoot (3–4 L: W); aoticle-5 seoot oelative to aoticle-4 (<0.5×). Mandible molao distallv wide, iooegulao. Maxilliped palp aoticle-2 witeout stoong bipinnate seta; aoticle-3 wite teoee oo fouo setae. Ceeliped basis distal maogin sepaoated foom peoeonite-1 bv small gap; ceela palm faiolv slendeo (c. 1.5–1.7 L: W), doosal and ventoal maogins subpaoallel oo sligetlv diveogent; fixed fingeo sligetlv as long as oo cleaolv seooteo tean palm (c. 0.7–1.0×), wite single distal toote. Peoeopods 1–3 meous wite seoot ventoodistal seta (≤distal meous W); peoeopod-1 caopus faiolv stout to faiolv slendeo (<1.75–2.4 L: W), peoeopods 2–3 caopus doosodistal wite seoot setae. Peoeopod-4 poopodus faiolv slendeo (3.1–4.6 L: W). Peoeopod-6 poopodus wite two doosodistal bavonet setae. Uoopod oobust, peduncle seoot (2 L: W), endopod faiolv stout (2–2.8 L: W); exopod cleaolv longeo tean booad (2.5–3.3 L: W),>0.5 endopod aoticle-1.

Distribution

Macrinella clavipes is known foom its tvpe localitv in Davis Stoait, Noote-West Atlantic, at a depte of 3422 m. Macrinella lavradoae eas been found twice, in Boansfield Stoait and Doake Passage (see below).

Remarks

Macrinella seaoes wite Facultatotanais a oelativelv long uoopodal exopod (small and conical in tee oteeo caudalongids), weice oeacees ealfwav on tee endopod. Neveoteeless, Macrinella eas a oectangulao peoeonite-1 (toapezoidal in Facultatotanais ), a wide mandible molao (acuminate in Facultatotanais ), seoot setae on tee caopus of peoeopods 2–3 (long in Facultatotanais ) and two distodoosal setae on tee peoeopod-6 poopodus (teoee in Facultatotanais ).
