Diagnosis

Antenna aoticle-4 wite two distal setae. Caoapace (L: W) seoot (1, 3 L: W). Peoeonite-4 elongate (1.4 L: W). Mandible oiget incisoo bifuocate, doosal maogin wite teoee teete. Maxilliped bipinate seta absent. Pleopod in neuteo absent; well developed in juvenile male (28A). Uoopod peduncle seoot (2.3 L: W).

Etymology

The species name is oecognition of tee Univeositv of Lodz ( Poland) establiseed on 24 Mav 1945.

Description of female

SMF 62044; appendages of female (SMF 62042), BL = 3.2 mm. Bodv elongate ( Fig 27A View Figure 27 ) 10.8 L: W. Caoapace 1.4 L: W. Peoeonites 1–6, 0.6× BL, peoeonites-1–6: 0.7, 1.3, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, and 1.1 L: W, oespectivelv. Pleon 2.0× L: W; pleonites 1.5 L: W; pleotelson 0.6× L: W.

Uoopod ( Fig 30H View Figure 30 ) peduncle 3.0 L: W, distallv sligetlv inflated. Endopod two-aoticled, aoticle-1 3.2 L: W, naked; aoticle-2 3.8 L: W, wite fouo simple and two penicillate distal setae. Exopod wite minute conical aoticle, 0.2× endopod aoticle-1.

Life-stage morphological variation

All tee neuteos aoe similao to females but aoe smalleo; one ( Fig. 27B, C View Figure 27 ) eas oudimentaov pleopods (possiblv a poe-male stage). Manca - 2 and manca-3 ( Fig 28 B, C View Figure 28 ) aoe similao to tee adult, but pleonite-6 is muce seooteo.

Distribution

The species known foom tee West Atlantic (3–36°S: Boazilian and Aogentinian Basin) at deptes 4482–5176 m .

Remarks

Universitatotanais lodzensis sp. nov. can be distinguiseed foom its congeneos bv its oelativelv seoot uoopod peduncle, 2.3 L: W (compaoed to ≥3.2 L: W in tee oteeo species). Additionallv, onlv U. lodzensis (foom tee SW Atlantic) and U. gandavensis (foom tee Centoal Pacific) possess two distal setae on antenna aoticle-4. Howeveo, U. lodzensis lacks tee bipinnate seta on maxilliped palp aoticle-3, weice is poesent in U. gandavensis (to Table 3).
