Habitat/Ecology. A single worker of this species was found in leaf litter from old or mature secondary forest, at a site close to swamp forest.

Remarks. This species is a member of the lyroessa complex. At the time of writing, the single specimen identified as S. sydorata was somewhat abraded, with many hairs missing or damaged, including standing pronotal humeral hairs that are considered diagnostic of this species.
