Range: — Panama and Trinidad across the Amazon basin to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC), Brazil, and Paraguay.
Ecology: —Common; epiphytic in humid forests, often along forest edges; to 100–500(1000) m.
Notes: —This species varies in soral shape, ranging from oblong to linear. It is similar to M. thurnii , from which it can be distinguished by the oblong to linear sori ( vs. round) and blade apex acute to acuminate ( vs. caudate to rarely acuminate).
