Banus oblatus Distant View in CoL
Figs 7 View FIGURES 7 IJ
Banus oblatus Distant 1908: 353–354 View in CoL , fig. 224 (in part).
Material examined. MYANMAR: LECTOTYPE ♀ (here designated), “Tenasserim: Myitta Doherty” “ Banus oblatus Dist. Type”, “Distant Coll. 1911-383”, “NHMUK 013588864” ( BMNH).
Remarks. Distant (1908) described this species based on unspecified number of specimens (syntypic) with the following data: “ Ceylon; Peradeniya (Green)” and “Tenasserim: Myitta (Doherty)”. Two male syntypes with the former data and one female with the latter data are present in the BMNH collection. The syntype from Myanmar has a shorter and less apically pointed vertex than the two syntypes from Sri Lanka. This difference and the different localities suggests that they are two different species, with the latter being identifiable as B. umbratus (see below). Therefore, to avoid the synonymy of the two species and as the female of B. oblatus is probably that figured in the original description, this specimen is here designated as lectotype.
