Scaphoideus notatus Distant 1908: 377–378 View in CoL .
Diagnosis. Crown without black round or rectangular spots, but with pale reddish brown transverse stripe. Male pygofer with ventral process straight, directed posteriorly, tapered apically with smooth dorsal and ventral margins, not twisted, exceeding pygofer. Aedeagus in lateral view L-shaped with dorsal apodeme almost as long as shaft, aedeagal shaft with median ridge on dorsal surface, shaft apex slightly posteriorly curved and tapered.
Material examined. SRI LANKA: LECTOTYPE (here designated) ♂, “Peradeniya, Ceylon, 2.05” “Distant Coll. 1911-383” “NHMUK 013588863” ( BMNH).
Remarks. This species was originally described based on an unspecified number of specimens (syntypic) with collection data “ Ceylon, Peradeniya (Green)”. The single male syntype present in BMNH has been dissected and the male genitalia are in very poor condition. The crown has a large transverse pale orange brown stripe marked with brown on the anterior margin and a prominent dark brown spot on the lateral margin near midlength of eye and a tiny dark brown spot on either side of median line near the fore margin. The forewing markings and spots on the metatibiae are pale brownish. The male genitalia are similar to those in C. serratus with a ventral pygofer process without dorsal marginal serrations and the aedeagus without a lateral lamellate expansion on the shaft.
