Diagnosis. Ochraceous, crown, dorsum of thorax with dark brown markings. Male pygofer 1.5× or more longer than wide in lateral view, ventral process curved mesally in distal 0.33. Aedeagus depressed, atrium elongate, gonopore apical.
Description. Ochraceous. Crown, thorax and forewings with dark brown markings as in the genus Orosius . Distant. Face with lateral areas of frontoclypeus brownish, basal areas surrounding antennal base dark brown, one spot on each lateral margin of clypellus at base dark brown. Forewing with apices of veins reaching costal margin dark brown.
Head as wide as pronotum. Crown 0.5–0.7× as long as interocular width, anteriorly subconically rounded. Pronotum about twice as wide as long.
Male genitalia. Pygofer without anterior apodemes, 1.5× as long as broad in lateral view, ventral process mesally curved in distal 0.33, apex attenuated. Valve with posterior margin convex. Aedeagus depressed, with ventrally produced atrium, shaft slightly curved anteriorly, with triangular lateral processes in proximal half, apex produced slightly beyond gonopore, gonopore apical on ventral surface.
Measurements. Male 4.0 mm long, 1.1 mm wide across eyes and 1.0 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum. Female 4.4 mm long. And 1.2 mm wide across eyes and also across posterolateral angles of pronotum.
Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, INDIA: Karnataka Biligiris [Biligiri Rangana Hills], 700m, 10.viii.1977, C.A. Viraktamath ( UASB) . PARATYPE 1♀, data as for holotype ( UASB) .
Etymology. The species name refers to the type locality (Biligiri Rangan Hills, called Biligiris by the local people), noun in apposition.
Remarks. The dorsal coloration of this species, particularly the presence of numerous false crossveins in the forewing, closely resembles that of the genus Orientus DeLong , which also has an elongate aedeagal preatrium and connective with widely divergent arms. However, this species has ventral pygofer process (pygofer process on dorsal margin near segment X in Orientus ), arms of the connective not divergent (widely divergent in Orientus ) and aedeagal shaft has a pair of mediolateral projections and apical gonopore (aedeagal shaft without median projections laterally and the gonopore subapical to apical in Orientus ) are not found in the two known species of Orientus .
