Diagnosis. coloration very similar to that in M. brevispina and M. opressa but much darker. It differs from them in having relatively small aedeagus, in lacking a dorsal apodeme and having basilateral processes about as long as the shaft and curved laterally with truncate apices. These characters also distinguish this species from other species of Mavromoustaca .

Description. Coloration very similar to that in M. brevispina but pale reddish markings on crown are dark brown, face darker brown and forewing coloration much bolder and darker.

Male genitalia. Pygofer 1.75× longer than wide in lateral view, narrowed posteriorly slightly distad of midlength, with conically rounded posterodorsal angle, posterior margin more or less obliquely truncate, ventral process directed posteriorly then dorsally along posterior margin and not attaining dorsal margin, Subgenital plate 3× as long as wide at base with submarginal row of macrosetae in middle 0.33 region and hair-like setae along margin. Aedeagus without dorsal apodeme, preatrium well-developed, shaft strongly anteriorly curved, with pair of basal processes arising slightly distad of base on lateral surface, each process strongly laterally curved, as long as shaft and truncate apically in lateral view; gonopore apical on ventral surface.

Measurements. Male 3.7–3.9mm long, 1.0mm wide across eyes and 0.8mm wide across posterolateral angels of pronotum. Female 4.1mm long, 1.1mm wide across eyes and also across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, INIDIA: Karnataka: Bangalore , GKVK, 12058 ’ N, 77035 ’ E, 930m, 9.vi.2016, Light trap, Yeshwanth, H.M. ( UASB) . PARATYPES, 1♂, 1♀, same data as holotype except 25.v.2016 (♀) on 30.v.2016 (♂) ( UASB) .

Etymology. The species is named after the late Dr. G.P. Channabasavanna, well-known entomologist and acarologist of India, name to be treated as a noun in apposition.

Remarks. This species is only tentatively placed in this genus as the subgenital plate has macrosetae restricted to only the middle third of the plate as in the species of Wanritettix Vilbaste.
