Remarks. Pantropical taxon, also occurring in temperate regions such as the Mediterranean Sea; in the western Atlantic recorded from North Carolina southwards to Espírito Santo, Brazil ( Ferreira et al., 2010); found in a wide variety of habitats, from the intertidal to just over 100 m.
