Remarks. Widely distributed in the western Atlantic, ranging from North Carolina and the northern Gulf of Mexico southwards to Atol das Rocas and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ( Almeida and Bezerra, 2011); recorded from various substrates, commonly foraging in sea grass beds at night and hiding in sponges and coral rubble during the day, 0– 50 m.
