Remarks. Rarely collected but relatively widespread in the western Atlantic, from the Florida Keys southwards to Atol das Rocas, off north-eastern Brazil, including much of the Caribbean Sea and southern Gulf of Mexico ( Soledade and Almeida, 2013); typically encountered on coral or rocky reefs, 0– 10 m.
