Remarks. Widespread in the western Atlantic, ranging from North Carolina southwards to Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, including Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico (Anker, 2012); typically under rocks on fine sand, also in oyster reefs and sea grass beds; intertidal to about 5 m.
