Remarks. Widely distributed in the tropical western Atlantic, from Florida southwards to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and throughout Caribbean Sea; in shallow sand flats or sea grass beds, extending down to about 55 m. Some records prior to the revision of the A. floridanus species complex ( Bracken-Grissom and Felder, 2014) may refer to closely related species, e.g. Alpheus roblesi Bracken-Grissom and Felder, 2014 or Alpheus platycheirus Boone, 1927 (see below).
