Source. In the binomen Prostoma suhmi as a replacement name for Tetrastemma fuscum Willemoes-Suhm in Tizard et al., 1885 by Bürger (1904: 66).
Type locality. Between Bermuda and the Azores, on the body of the grapsid crab Planes minutus ( Linnaeus, 1758) .
Etymology. Masculine noun in the genitive singular, after Rudolf von Willemoes-Suhm (1847–1875), a German naturalist served aboard the Challenger expedition.
Remarks. Bürger (1904: 66) replaced Tetrastemma fuscum Willemoes-Suhm in Tizard et al., 1885 with Prostoma suhmi Bürger, 1904 to avoid primary homonymy with Tetastemma fuscum Örsted, 1843 . Tetrastemma fuscum Örsted, 1843 was described from the Swedish island of Ven (Hven) in the Øresund strait, and synonymized with Oerstedia dorsalis ( Abildgaard, 1806) by Bergendal (1900: 587). Tetrastemma fuscum Willemoes-Suhm in Tizard et al., 1885 was reported as an unidentified species of Tetrastemma by Willemoes-Suhm (1874), ectoparasitic on the crab Nautilograpsus minutus ( Linnaeus, 1758) [now Planes minutus ( Linnaeus, 1758) ] ( Tizard et al. 1885: 169). Willemoes-Suhm’s taxon is now known as Tetrastemma suhmi ( Bürger, 1904) ( Gibson 1995: 498, 525), although it is likely a member of Carcinonemertidae .
