Diagnosis. Tegmen of Ypopteron most easily separated from those of other Palaeorehniidae as in Table 1 View TABLE 1 .

Type and only species. Y. nicola .

Description. As for its only species, see below.

Etymology. The genus name refers to the Ypresian age, and – opteron, from the Greek -pteron ( πτερόν), meaning wing. Gender, neuter.
