( Figs 3 C View Fig , 5 D View Fig )
ETYMOLOGY
The name refers to the external female reproductive tract with its shortened gonocoxites (Latin: brevis = short).
TYPE MATERIAL
Holotype: ♀, with labels and data: white, handwritten in black ink “ India 77.15” / “vulgivaga Boh. var.?” ( NHMUK) . Paratype: ♀, with labels and data: white, black printed “ India ”, backside handwritten in black ink “ Bowring ” / white, handwritten in black ink and printed “ Clivina vulgivaga Boh. det. K. Kult, 1948 ( NHMUK) .
REMARKS
In the holotype, eight terminal antennomeres and four tarsomeres of the right hind leg are missing. In the paratype, nine left terminal antennomeres are missing. The specimens show pin holes.
DIAGNOSIS
The subspecies differs from the nominotypical subspecies mainly by the short, not completely fused, stick-like, regularly convex, and basally widened, female gonocoxites, and the six-setose epipleurite. Moreover, the apex of the elytron shows extended reticulation and interval eight is more narrowed apically.
DESCRIPTION
Measurements. Holotype: body length 6.31 mm, width 1.82 mm; ratio length/width of pronotum 0.98; ratio length/width of elytra 1.96. Paratype: body length 5.89 mm, width 1.7 mm; ratio length/width of pronotum 0.97; ratio length/width of elytra 1.95
The subspecies differs from the nominotypical subspecies mainly in the following characters:
Head. Neck constriction not completely closed by band of punctures, without step.
Pronotum ( Fig. 3 C View Fig ). Shape seemingly longer optically but not by measurement. Lateral margin slightly convex at attenuated part in anterior half.
Elytron. Apex completely isodiametrically reticulated at all intervals; interval eight apically more narrowed.
Male genitalia. Unknown.
Female gonocoxite and epipleurite ( Fig. 5 D View Fig ). Gonocoxites small, not completely fused, stick-like in cross section, regularly convex, widened basally, as long or slightly shorter than ramus of epipleurite, epipleurite at margin with four medium and one small sized setae, basally with additional seta.
DISTRIBUTION
