Stem up to 40 cm, erect orascending. Leaves usually blackening on drying, mostly suborbicular, with up to 12 pairs of usually obtuse to subacute teeth, usually glabrous above, scabrid or hairy on the

veins beneath; lower leaves hairier than upper. Calyx 5-7 mm, glabrous, or villous in the sinuses. Corolla 13-16 mm; lilac. Capsule 6-7-5 mm, obcordate. Shallow soils near lava-flows on mountains. • Açores (central group). Az.
