Annual or possibly short-lived perennial herbs. Verticillasters 6- to 10-flowered, distant; bracteoles subulate, spinose, deflexed. Calyx infundibuliform, more or less 2-lipped with greatly enlarged, reticulate-veined, membranous lips. Corolla 2-lipped; upper lip hooded; lower lip 3-lobed. Nutlets trigonous, truncate at apex.
