Meniscium serratum Cav., Descr. Pl. (Cavanilles) View in CoL 548. 1803.
= Thelypteris serrata (Cav.) Alston, Kew Bull. 1932: 309 View in CoL . 1932.
Range: —Florida; Antilles; Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC), eastern Brazil, Paraguay, and northern Argentina.
Ecology: —Common; terrestrial and aquatic in marshes, swamps, roadside ditches, and along streams, sometimes in full sun; 200–900(1300) m.
Notes: —Readily recognized by the serrate pinnae; most other Bolivian species of the genus have entire to crenulate or undulate pinna margins. Meniscium consobrinum , which see, also has serrate pinnae, but differs by distal pinnae not or only slightly reduced ( vs. greatly reduced) and generally broader and fewer pinnae.
