Amphiareus constrictus (Stṏl, 1860)
( Heteroptera : Anthocoridae ) is a cosmopolitan species and is distributed in the Americas, North and tropical Africa, Turkey, the Eastern Palaearctic, Australia and Oceania. Concerning the Canary Islands ( Spain), the most proximate records of the species are from the island of Madeira ( Portugal) and from Morocco ( PÉRICART, 1996; AUKEMA & HERMES, 2009; ÇERÇİ & KOÇAK, 2017). A. constrictus was introduced to the Netherlands ( AUKEMA & HERMES, 2009).
Now, A. constrictus can be reported from the Canary Islands, too: On 26-01-2024, an adult specimen ( Fig. 1 View Fig ) was found in El Jardín, located near Los Realejos, at the northern coast of the island of Tenerife. A photograph of the specimen was uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
