Taxonomy. Original description: Scaphiodon macrolepis Heckel, 1847: 259 [Confluents of Araxes River at Persepolis, Iran [Sivand River, Fars near Persepolis]; Syntypes: NMW 51653 View Materials (2), 55896 (2)] .
