Type species: Nyssodesmus alboalatus Cook, 1896 , by original designation.
13 described species, from Nicaragua to Panama ( Recuero & Sánchez-Vialas 2018).
Diagnosis. Differs from other genera of the family in the gonopodal telopodite usually being longer, with acropodite much like in Barydesmus (see above), but rather abruptly ( vs smoothly) bent towards coxite, often with a considerably expanded lateral branch ( lb) and a solenomere ( sl) of varying degrees of development, from virtually absent to long and directed sublaterad (cf. Shelley & Martínez-Torres 2013).
