Types. Holotype ♂ ( HNU-HN-IV-1806 ), CHINA, Hunan Prov.: Yongshun Co., Xiaoxi Town, Xiaoxi Vill ., 28.820961°N, 110.253361°E, 533 m, 21.IV.2018, D. Li et al. leg. GoogleMaps Paratypes: 1♂, same data as holotype ( HNU-HN-IV-1806 ) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the type locality; adjective.

Diagnosis. Baryphyma xiaoxiense sp. n. resembles B. trifrons (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1863) in having the similar long embolus ( Figs 11A–D View FIGURE 11 ; Paquin & Duperre 2003, figs 788, 790), but can be distinguished by the cephalic lobe rod-like with tapering apical end in B. xiaoxiense sp. n. ( Figs 13A, B View FIGURE 13 ; vs. rectangular); dorsal tibial apophysis with bifurcated apex in B. xiaoxiense sp. n. ( Figs 13A, B View FIGURE 13 ; vs. not bifurcated); anterior radical apophysis somewhat S-shaped in B. xiaoxiense sp. n. ( Figs 13A, B View FIGURE 13 ; vs. column-shaped).

Description. Male (holotype, Figs 13A–C View FIGURE 13 ). Total length: 1.56. Carapace 0. 68 long, 0.52 wide, cephalic lobe 0.30 long, longer than wide, gradually narrow towards distal end, PMEs present on the cephalic lobe, cephalic pits absent, ocular quad densely covered with spines. Clypeus 0.21 high. Chelicerae with five promarginal and five retromarginal teeth. Sternum as wide as long, brown, with microsetae. Eyes: AER recurved, PER procurved, slightly wider. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.04, ALE 0.03, PME 0.04, PLE 0.05, AME–AME 0.03, PME–PME 0.03, AME–ALE, 0.03, PME–PLE 0.14, AME–PME 0.20 ALE– ALE 0.22, PLE–PLE 0.24, ALE–PLE 0.01. Length of legs: I 1.75 (0.51, 0.61, 0.37, 0.26), II 1.1.62 (0.49, 0.54, 0.34, 0.25), III 1.40 (0.42, 0.46, 0.31, 0.21), IV 1.77 (0.54, 0.62, 0.38, 0.23). Tibial spine formula: 1-1-1-1. TmI 0.26, TmIV 0.23. Opisthosoma 0.88 long, 0.67 wide, black.

Palp( Figs11A–D View FIGURE 11 , 12A,B View FIGURE 12 ): Femur unmodified, almost as long as both patella and tibia. Patella short, ventrally grooved. Tibia with one retrolateral trichobothria, with two apophyses, retrolateral tibial apophysis (RTA) with round ventral margin, ventrally with a sclerotized small tooth (best visible in dorsal view, Fig. 11C View FIGURE 11 ). Cymbium unmodified, distal end broad, mid dorsally slightly grooved forming a pocket for distal part of dorsal tibial apophysis; dorsal tibial apophysis (DTA) longer than wide, slightly curved, distal end bifurcated; paracymbium (PC) J-shaped; tegulum covered by the embolic division, visible in prolateral view; distal suprategular apophysis (DSA) distal part unmodified, C-shaped with pointed end. Tailpiece (TP) with of embolic division blunt tip; anterior radical apophysis (ARP) sinuous; embolic membrane (EM) transparent, running along the embolus; embolus (E) long, filiform, almost forming 1.5 circles.

Female. Unknown.
