= Dymczewiczia capitata (Roxb.) Horan., Prodr. Monogr. Scitam. : 26 (1862).
Specimens examined: MYANMAR. Kachin State: Myitkyina Township, Kachin Hill , 7 July 1890, J.C. Prazer 177 ( CAL!) ; loc. cit., Sep 1897, Shaik Mokim 36 ( CAL!) ; loc. cit., Sep 1899, Shaik Mokim 50 ( BM) ; loc. cit., 8 June 2014, Mu Mu Aung 042 ( RAF!, TNS!) .
Distribution: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and N. Myanmar (Kachin).
Note: Zingiber capitatum is well distinguished by its terminal inflorescence, green bracts with red edge, pale yellow flowers. The rhizomes are bearing many tubers. Inflorescence bracts are turning red in fruiting stage. This species has been so far recorded from Himalayan region, and is apparently a Himalayan element. This is the first record from Myanmar, and these specimens cited above indicate its eastern limit of the distribution of this species.
