Pseudomethoca athamas ( Fox, 1899)
Pseudomethoca athamas Fox, 1899: 225 , ♁.
Pseudomethoca dentifrontalis Bradley in Mickel, 1924: 11, ♀. New synonym.
Material examined. I examined 114 males of P. athamas (CASC, CSCA, EMUS, FSCA, UCDC, UCRC, USNM) and 48 females of P. dentifrontalis (CASC, CSCA, FSCA, UCDC, UMSP) .
Distribution. Mexico ( Baja California) and USA ( California, Oregon).
Remarks. The sex association of these species has been informally recognized in collections and on various websites (pers. obs.). They are the only similarly sized small-bodied species known from Pacific regions of California and have been collected from the same localities numerous times. Pseudomethoca dentifrontalis is here formally recognized as a junior synonym of P. athamas .
