Type species. Aculepeira packardi (Thorell, 1875) View in CoL

Diagnosis. Following Levi (1991), females of Aculepeira are recognized by having epigyne with a pointed scape, lacking a pocket at the tip ( Figs 13C, D View FIGURE 13 , 14B, C View FIGURE 14 ), while males have median apophysis bearing two flagella at its proximal end, boat- to disc-shaped conductor and conductor lobe absent ( Figs 12C, D View FIGURE 12 , 14A View FIGURE 14 ).
