This species was originally described from off north-eastern USA and was known from high latitudes in the eastern Atlantic as early as 1878 ( Sars 1878) ( Fig. 15 View Fig ). Records from farther south in Norway appear in Lande (1975) and from Scotland ( Blacknell 1973), both noting Ockelmann’s confirmation of identifications.
