Diagnosis (after Cook 1974, revised). Glandularia platelets in dorsal furrow greatly enlarged. Dorsal shield either indented anteriorly and with glandularia lying free in these indentations, or without indentations and these glandularia fused with dorsal shield. Excretory pore lying on a small platelet posterior to genital field in male. In the female the excretory pore is either fused or separated from the postgenital sclerite. Vgl-4 either free or fused with ventral shield.

The nominate subgenus occurs in the Palaearctic and Oriental regions.
