Saldula arenicola arenicola (Scholtz, 1847) View in CoL

Acanthia arenicola Scholtz : Lindberg (1922: 19), “ Beirut, am Meeresufer nördlich von Nahr el Beirut ( Reut. det., coll. Reut.)”.

Saldula arenicola arenicola (Scholtz) View in CoL : Lindskog (1995: 127), “ Lebanon ”, probable quotation of Lindberg (1922); Matocq & Azar (2023: 3), generic quotation of Aukema (2024); Ghahari et al. (2023l: 7), “ Lebanon ”, quotation of previous unspecified records.

General distribution. Widely distributed species in the Palaearctic and Afrotropical Regions (see Vinokurov & Kment 2015).

Remarks. Although the presence of this species in Lebanon may be possible, Lindberg’s record would need to be verified and confirmed by new findings.

The need to use the nominotypical subspecies is due to the subspecies S. arenicola ussurica Vinokurov, 1981 from Primorsky Kray, Russian Far East (see Lindskog 1995, Vinokurov 2004).
