Description:—Perennial herbs.Roots fibrous.Stem 50–120cm tall, more or less puberulous in young plants, particularly so on the upper part, later usually glabrescent but sometimes still puberulous on nodes. Basal leaves withered at anthesis. Cauline leaves 3–4-ternate; leaf blade triangular, 7–25 cm long and broad; leaflets obovate, rhombic-elliptic, ovate or suborbicular, 0.5–3 cm long, 0.5–2.5 cm broad, herbaceous, adaxially sparsely puberulous, later often glabrescent, abaxially often puberulous, base broadly cuneate, rounded or subcordate, apex obtuse or acute, 3-lobed; lobes obtusely 2‒3-dentate, apex obtuse; veins submerged adaxially, prominently raised abaxially; petioles to 6 cm long, with stipules at base, sparsely puberulous, later glabrescent; stipules oblong, sheath-like, membranous, margin entire. Inflorescence a terminal thyrse; rachis sparsely or densely puberulous, later glabrescent. Pedicels 3‒10 mm long, sparsely or densely puberulous, later glabrescent. Flowers bisexual, erect. Sepals 4‒5, caducous, ellliptic, obovate or nearly oblong, 2.5–5 mm long, 1.5‒2.2 mm broad, adaxially glabrous, abaxially totally or distally puberulous or ciliate only on the upper margin, white or tinged with yellowish-green. Stamens 30‒50, 5‒8 mm long; filaments 4‒7 mm long, proximally filiform, distally thicker, white; anthers ca. 1 mm long, oblong, apex obtuse or acute, pale yellow. Carpels 4–9, more or less puberulous, stipitate; stipe 0.3‒1 mm long; ovary obliquely obovate, compressed; style 1.5‒1.8 mm long, straight; stigma oblong, ca. 0.5 mm long. Achenes 8‒15 mm long, more or less puberulous when young, glabrescent or sparsely puberulous when mature, stipitate, drooping; stipe 1.5‒7 mm long, filiform; body obliquely broadly obovate, ca. 6 mm long, ca. 5 mm broad, compressed, shallowly 2‒3-ribbed; style persistent, straight.

Phenology:—Flowering from June to August; fruiting from July to September.

Distribution and habitat:— Thalictrum przewalskii is widely distributed in Beijing, Chongqing, Gansu, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Nei Mongol, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, and Xizang, China ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). It grows in bushes, forests or on grassy slopes at elevations of 750‒3500 m above sea level.
