ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Pangonia depressa Macquart, 1838 ; Pangonia “ Albicostata ”; Pangonia “ Ruficornis ”; Pangonia albithorax Macquart, 1838 (as “ Albitorax ”); Pangonia viridiventris Macquart, 1838 (as “ Viridiventris del Gay”).

TYPE SPECIES: Pangonia depressa Macquart, 1838 , by subsequent designation ( Coquillett, 1910: 532) .

CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Scaptia Walker, 1850 [ teste Fairchild & Burger (1994: 34) ].

FAMILY: TABANIDAE .

REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus-group name in Rondani (1863): Diatomineura (page 84) and Diatomyneura (page 94). Acting as First Reviser, we select Diatomineura as the correct original spelling, which relegates Diatomyneura ( q. v.) to unavailable name status. Two names attributed to Macquart (“ Albicostata ” and “ Ruficornis ”) were originally included, but neither name has ever been made available and are nomina nuda .
