Austrolimnius (Helonoma) eris Hinton View in CoL

( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 )

Austrolimnius eris Hinton 1971: 94–97 View in CoL (original description).

Published records by country. Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela ( Jäch et al. 2016).

Type Locality. Juchitán, Oaxaca, Mexico (see next section for specifics on the correct Mexican state where the type locality is located) .

Published records in Mexico. Chiapas ( Hinton 1971). In the original description Hinton (1971) reported the type locality, Juchitán, in the state of Chiapas. In fact, the town of Juchitán de Zaragoza and the homonymous municipality are political and administrative divisions of the state of Oaxaca. The town of Juchitán is approximately 100 km west of the Chiapas state's border and its municipality, together with approximately 20 more municipalities, have been part of a lager territorial division called Distrito de Juchitán. This district is located in the easternmost part of Oaxaca and borders the state of Chiapas. The specimens from Mexico in the type series, collected by entomologist Harley P. Brown, could have been taken from a stream situated within this district (not the town nor the municipality) in the vicinity of the Chiapas state, and because of the proximity the collector incorrectly assumed the locality was in this latter state.

Distribution in Mexico. This species has been reported from a single locality in southern Mexico ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ). Juchitán, Oaxaca, is in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in the southern section of the western Pacific Lowlands biogeographic province.
