Sabethes aurescens View in CoL
of both sexes from Spitzkopf and ProMata had golden/green mesonotum scales, and not, as referred ( Lane 1953b), coppery/green. Identification was confirmed by male genitalia. The species had been previously reported biting man in UCAD, and now is recorded breeding in bamboos in several localities of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. It has been shown as very common, besides some larvae of Wy. limai and Sa. melanonymphe Dyar and Toxorhynchites Theobald , in an extensive study of mosquito fauna in drilled bamboos, being developed in UCAD ( Marcondes & Mafra 2003).
Several other mosquitoes could not yet be identified at species level, depending on the future finding of immature forms and breeding of male adults. This occurred in Wy. pilicauda /incaudata, which females cannot be differentiated. Not all species in Wyeomyia were included above in subgenera, due to the controversial classification at this level ( Guimarães 1997; Motta & LourençodeOliveira 2000).
