Bagous vicinus Hustache 1926 View in CoL
Bagous vicinus Hustache 1926: 643 View in CoL . [ Type locality: Kurda , near Mhow, Madhya Predesh, India]
Sri Lankan records. O’Brien & Askevold (1995: 47 —Gilimale Lumber Mill).
Distribution. Bangladesh, Burma, India, Malaya, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka , Vietnam.
Biological Note. This species has been reared from larvae in underground roots of Potamogeton nodosus . It was collected from flowers and leaves of Potamogeton at night, and found under live Potamogeton and dead Hydrilla in a drying lake bed. It was frequently collected in association with Hydrilla verticillata with a few specimens reared from larvae from stems of that plant species. It has been collected often at white and UV lights. A few specimens were reared from larvae feeding in stems of Myriophyllum spicatum . Large numbers of specimens were collected from a depth of 1" in topsoil near a pond in northern Pakistan, where they were probably going to overwinter ( O’Brien & Askevold, 1995).
