Remarks: An uncommon species with a world-wide distribution, rarely recorded, probably because it is a relatively fragile species easily destroyed in plankton hauls, and prefers deeper waters ( 200–500 m). The only previous record from the Antarctic Zone is by Vinogradov (1962), also from the Southwest Pacific Sector ( 64°03’S 161°59’E).
