Diagnostic characters. Frontal tuft ochreous yellow except black apically. Forewing mainly orange yellow or ochreous orange, with scattered fuscous brown scales; cilia-line fuscous brown. In male genitalia, uncus lobes obtusely rounded at apex, excavation between uncus lobes produced posteromedially; valva narrowed at basal 1/3, broadly rounded at apex; vinculum with ventral plate distinctly convex posteriorly; phallus sinuate apically, with two lateral clusters of slender spines ( Puplesis & Diškus 2003: 116, figs 272‒275).
Distribution. China ( Guangdong), Japan.
Remarks. Puplesis & Diškus (2003) described C. japoniella from Japan. Huang & Tan (2009) recorded this species from Guangdong, China. Host plants include Eurya emarginata and E. japonica ( Theaceae ) ( Puplesis & Diškus 2003).
