Diagnosis. Scutum with dark yellow longitudinal stripes, a pair of triangular black marks on the anterior half, one round black mark in the middle of the prescutellar area; scutellum yellow, slightly longer than wide; ocellar triangle, pleuron, legs, and tibial organ entirely yellow.

Description. Body length 3.0 mm; wing length 2.6 mm; light brown to yellow body pilosity. Head ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 18–22 ). Yellow; ocellar triangle yellow, reaching about ¾ to apex of frons; occiput entirely yellow; ocellar setae reclinate and convergent; postocellar as long as the outer vertical setae, cruciate; a row of interfrontal setulae indistinct; vibrissa slightly distinct, yellow, as long as the genal pilosity; antenna yellow; postpedicel rounded; 1 st aristomere yellow, remaining arista dark, with short and sparse pilosity; palpus yellow; proboscis dark yellow. Thorax ( Figs. 18; 20 View FIGURES 18–22 ). Scutum yellow with slightly indistinct dark yellow longitudinal stripes, a pair of triangular black marks on the anterior half, one round black markin the middle of the prescutellar area; postpronotum with a dark yellow mark; scutellum yellow, as long as wide dorsally; subscutellum yellow; pleuron yellow; 1 + 2 notopleural setae; legs entirely yellow; tibial organ yellow, reaching half of length of hind tibia. Wing. Hyaline; tegula with yellowish setulae; costal sectors 1–4: 5, 4.5, 3, 2; halter yellow. Abdomen. Syntergite 1+2 yellow, 3rd tergite yellow, 4th tergite dark brown, 5th tergite yellow with a central longitudinal black stripe; sternites yellow. Male terminalia ( Figs. 23–25 View FIGURES 23–27 ). Epandrium round, wider than long posteriorly; cerci twice as long as wide in dorsal view, round apically pointing outwards, separated from the other cerci by about the width of the basiphallus, with one subapical seta 2–3 times longer than the remaining setae; surstylus about 3 times longer than wide; hypandrium quadrate, with the inner projections closed; postgonite rectangular, with one small seta basally; phallapodeme short and bifid apically; basiphallus subtriangular ventrally; distiphallus striate, circa 1/3 of the length of the surstylus. Female. Same as male. Terminalia ( Figs. 26–27 View FIGURES 23–27 ). Segments 6–8 narrow; epiproct bare, with a pair of setae; hypoproct pilose; cerci brown, long and narrow.

Etymology. The specific epithet ‘ flaviscutellatus ’ is derived from Latin, meaning yellow small scutum. It refers to the yellow coloration of the scutellum.

Distribution. Brazil (Amazonas).

Comments. The holotype was not dissected and has the left arista and wing broken.
