Lectotype (designated by Turner, 1996):— MALAYSIA. Peninsular Malaysia, Selangor, on the Tras Route at the 15th mile, Ridley s. n. ( lectotype: SING0192557 About SING !).

Synonym:— ≡ Forrestia irritans Ridl. (1904: 38)

Thai specimens examined:— THAILAND. PENINSULAR: Nakhon Si Thammarat: Khao Luang NP, 21 May 1968, van Beusekom & Phengklai 920 ( BKF!) ; Kiri Wong , Khao Luang NP, 7 Aug. 1951, Smitinand 914 ( BKF!). Yala: Betong, 9 Apr. 1923, Kerr 7516 ( BK!, L0929207 !, P00598642 !). Narathivat: Nikhom Waeng, 24 Sept. 1966, Prayad 422 ( BK!) ; Waeng , Bala-Hala WS, 4 Aug. 1999, Puudjaa & Cholkulchana 642 ( BKF!) .

Distribution.— Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra.

Ecology.—In evergreen and gallery forests, ca 200 m alt.

Vernacular.—Ya plap ( หญ้าปลาบ, Thai).

Notes.— Amischotolype irritans is distinguished by its rusty spiny pubescent sepals and capsules forming a densely compact inflorescence head.
